NOTICE: On March 17, 2020 the Employee Retirement System sent the following message to their members. In consideration of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health concern, the Employees' Retirement System of Georgia (ERSGA) will no longer accept visitors at their office. The Employees' Retirement System (ERS) administers the following plans:
- ERS Old & New Plans
- Georgia State Employees' Pension and Savings Plan (GSEPS)
- Georgia Defined Contribution Plan (GDCP)
- Peach State Reserves
All eligible new hires become members of GSEPS.
Full-time employees of participating departments and agencies are required to become members of ERS as a condition of employment. (Full-time employment status is defined as 35 hours per week for a minimum of nine months a year.)
Part-time employees of participating departments and agencies are required to become members of ERS as a condition of employment enrolled through the Georgia Defined Contribution Plan (GDCP).
The State of Georgia also sponsors an attractive supplemental retirement plan - Peach State Reserves. The program consists of a 401(k) and 457 plan. For employees who are covered under the Georgia State Employees' Pension and Savings Plan (GSEPS), contributions to the 401(k) plan are matched by the state.
